Scope and Contents
The contents of the manuscript are as follows:
(i) Copy of the lesser Aberdeen Cartulary, 1st half of 16th century, made from Adv.MS.34.4.4 (folio 1).
(ii) Copy of charters concerning Banffshire (folio 69).
(iii) Copy of the tax-rolls of Aberdeenshire for 1554 and 1613, the latter made from Adv.MS.49.7.19, folios 32-35 (folio 81).
(iv) Copy of the rentals of Aberdeenshire for 1674 and 1740, made from Adv.MS.49.7.18 (folio 88).
(v) Copy of alleged charters by David I, 1136, and Malcolm IV, 1163, made from Adv.34.4.4 (folio 131).
(vi) Copy of retours in Banffshire, 1552 (folio 133).
(vii) Copy of retours in Aberdeenshire, 1550-1694, made from Adv.MS.49.7.19, folios 36-43 (folio 136 verso).

The manuscript was originally part of the Rose Collection, Adv.MS.49.7.1-49.7.20, and is listed as ‘Inv. I’ in the Inventory (Adv.MS.49.7.7) by William Rose`s son Patrick, who arranged and catalogued the papers in 1819.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Presented, 1925, by the Faculty of Advocates to the nation on the foundation of the National Library of Scotland.
