Eight of the poems were printed in a variant form in ‘From the braes of the carse’, edited by James M Strachan (Perth, 1898); their first lines are, 'I hae a lass, I lo'e her dear (folio 7 verso); 'O wat ye wha I met last night' (folio 13 verso); 'The sun shines nae mair...' (folio 16); "Dreary drips the mountain's brow" (folio 22); "I'll tak farewel o' Thee" (folio 23); 'Dear Mary we must part' (folio 27); "Fair shines the sun on Earn's banks" (folio 30); and 'Tis lang sin I saw ye...' (folio 30 verso). The remaining twenty-nine are apparently unpublished.
