Letter-book of Richard Coren, Lieutenant-Governor of Edinburgh Castle.
Scope and Contents
The letter-book, 1751-1762, includes correspondence of Richard Coren and General Humphrey Bland, Governor of the Castle and Commander-in-Chief of the Forces in Scotland, the Board of Ordnance, and various army agents in London. The letters concern the financial affairs of the garrison, the repair and improvement of the structure of the Castle (including the construction of the Esplanade), and relationships between the garrison and the town.
At the end, inverted, is a series of household accounts, late 18th century.
