Papers and correspondence of the Andrew Fletcher Society; with policy discussion papers published by the Society.
Scope and Contents
The Andrew Fletcher Society was formed in January 1975 by a group of leading members of the Scottish National Party who felt that the SNP required an independent discussion and research group to help with policy formulation and to discuss generally the policy issues that might confront an independent Scotland. The Society was named to commemorate Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun (1655-1716), opponent of the Union and political philosopher.
