Scope and Contents
The material in this sequence relates to some posthumous publications or proposed publications about Lord Byron. Some of these publications proved to be contentious and there is correspondence here relating to controversies surrounding the published works.
Works represented include those of Robert Charles Dallas, John Hanson, Ralph King-Milbanke and Thomas Moore. There are letters of these authors along with some manuscripts, proofs and newspaper clippings relating to the publications. There are also letters of other correspondents about these posthumous works, including Lady Byron, John Cam Hobhouse, Augusta Leigh, John Murray [III] and John Murray [IV].
Also included is material relating to 'The true story of Lady Byron's life' by Harriett Beecher-Stowe, and 'The life and letters of Lady Byron' by Mayne Ethel Colburn.
