Notes are manuscript and typescript. The series contains notes on ideas for the Rebus novels, Jack Harvey novels, short stories, and other creative works. Also included are notes relating to Rankin’s published writing, and the writing process.
Most of the notes are undated. Arrangement has been suggested by the original order of the materials in proximity to those notes which are dated. Otherwise, arrangement has been suggested by content. Notes which cannot be dated with any approximation are at the end of the sequence.
