Scope and Contents

The notebook , watermarked 1831, is inscribed (folio 2 recto) ‘Co-chruinneachadh Orain Ghaidhealach’.

The contents are as follows.

(vii) ‘Mactalla’. Thy life was like a morning cloud, 6 quatrains. Translation of ‘Chaochail i mar neulta ruiteach’ above (middle of folio 8 verso);

(viii) “Eliza’s modest, mild and fair”, 4 quatrains + chorus. ‘Ewen MacColl – this and the foregoing pieces’ (folio 9 verso);

(ix) Note on the work ‘The history of the feuds and conflicts among the clans … To which is added, A collection of curious songs in the Gallic language, published from an original manuscript’. The following four items are taken from this work, with improved spelling. (middle of folio 10 recto);
