Notes on plants and some local history, ca. 1954-1956
Scope and Contents
Notebook containing notes and word lists in English and Gaelic, mostly on plants and their application in Gaelic home industry and medical tradition. Also contains notes on the history of the Western Isles, and references to plants in poetry. The first page is dated "Islay: Port Charlotte (28th June-5th July (1954))". With some sheets of notes and a newspaper cutting loosely inserted, dated 1954-1956. 36 ff., written from both ends. The text beginning at the back end, folios 28v-36v, was entered without turning the book upside down, so that folio 36v is the first page, and 28v the last.
