The diary includes entries on Helen Fraser's memories, social and cultural life, and reflections on work and suffrage campaigning. She comments on her extended family; local life in and around Glasgow and Caithness; outings to the opera and the theatre, with observations on performances by the actresses Sarah Bernhardt and Ellen Terry; a Spiritualists' meeting with a talk by the medium Walter Howell; a talk by Mrs [Hypatia] Bradlaugh Bonnar on Gladstone; a reception given by the Clarion Scouts for Robert Blatchford and Edward Robertshaw Hartley; the California earthquake of 1906; the 1906 General Election campaigns in Glasgow; women and work; Japanese sailors in Glasgow; a talk by G K Chesterton; an extended discussion of the shipwreck of a schooner carrying coal from Newcastle; notes on Martin Luther; a speech on women's suffrage in 1906 by Teresa Billington-Greig; Helen Fraser's first year as a suffrage campaigner; reflections on being a 'Reformer' in 1908; and retrospective notes on a dream 'a few months before war started', dated July 1914. With loose inserted hymn 'No Man is an Island', and typescript poem entitled 'Compensation', signed 'M.E.B.'
