Scope and Contents
The contents are as follows. (i) Reports and correspondence concerning the acceptance by the Royal Society of Edinburgh of Baron Hume's bequest and the granting of access to the papers to John Hill Burton, 1839-1844. There is a list of these papers, which are not included in the calendar, at the beginning of the volume. (ii) Miscellaneous manuscripts not by David Hume, 1746-1766, undated, including verses, a character of Hume, papers on mathematical principles, and historical statements by the Earl Marischal.
