Scope and Contents
The contents are as follows:
(i) A treatise of the office and duties of the High Treasurer of Scotland;
(ii) ‘De charta, ejus partibus et clausulis' (page 6);
(iii) De warda (page 12);
(iv) De maritagio (page 14);
(v) De Relevio (page 15);
(vi) De nonintroitu (page 16);
(vii) De modo tenendi terras nomine cani (page 16);
(viii) De diversis generibus chartarum (page 17);
(ix) De partibus cartæ (page 18);
(x) De clausulis chartæ (page 20);
(xi) De Saisina (page 24);
(xii) 'Processus erectionis collegii justiciæ in Scotia’ – to which are joined the early acts of Sederunt down to 1593.
(xiii) The contribution granted by the Prelates to the 15 ordinary judges and the particular assignation thereof to each, 1583-1586, 1590-1591.
(xiv) The whole volume may have been written soon after this last date. There is nothing to connect any part of it with Sir Richard Maitland, the owner and perhaps writer of Adv.MS. 31.2.2, Volume 1.
