Scope and Contents
The contents are as follows. (i) Notes and drafts of speeches and motions on Indian affairs, [1783-1784] (folio 1); (ii) Printed copy of the exchange of letters, December 1788-January 1789, between William Pitt and the Prince of Wales, with drafts of letters, memorials and addresses on the Regency bill, 1788-1789, and drafts for the memorial of the Prince of Wales to the King, February 1789 (folio 17); (iii) Letters and memorial, 1791, chiefly concerning the memorial of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland against the Test Act, as inapplicable to Scotland under the Act of Union, with a printed list of members who voted in the minority on the motions to repeal the Test and Corporation Acts in 1787 and 1789, a canvassing list of the House of Commons, 1791, concerning the 1st Earl of Minto's motion, a list showing how the Scottish members voted on the motion, and notes of the 1st Earl (folio 155). The printed division lists, annotated here by the 1st Earl, are also to be found in the Odgers Manuscripts in Dr Williams' Library, London.
