Scope and Contents
Many of the correspondents are literary figures, writing about their own or James Hyman Singer, “Burns Singer's” work; they include Stephen Spender, whose letters concern Singer's contributions to ‘Encounter’, and Marguerite Caetani, the founder of ‘Botteghe Oscure’. There are also reactions to reviews by Singer and letters concerning the publication and broadcasting of his work. Folios 17 and 32 verso contain lines of poetry in Singer's hand.
