Letters to John Gibson Lockhart., 1812-1854.
Scope and Contents
Most of the letters are addressed to John Gibson Lockhart as editor of the 'Quarterly Review', and the writers include a great number of literary and political celebrities. Letters of John Wilson Croker fill two volumes (MSS.927-928).
Other letters contain information about Sir Walter Scott for the 'Memoirs of the life of Sir Walter Scott’ (Edinburgh, 1837), and there are copies of letters of Scott of 1803-1831.
