(i) Copy of a manuscript which was attached to a proof of the ‘Field of Waterloo’ containing criticisms by James Ballantyne and replies by Sir Walter Scott, 1815 (folio 1);
(ii) Translations into German of portions of the ‘Bride of Lammermoor’, the ‘Pirate’, and the ‘Legend of Montrose’, by Henriette de Montenglaut, 1825 (folio 7); See her letter, MS.870, folio 90;
(iii) Notes on historical errors in ‘Quentin Durward’ (folio 28);
(iv) Criticism of the Welsh portions of the ‘Betrothed’ (folio 36);
(v) Newspaper cutting regarding the Wicks of Beglie ('Fair Maid of Perth'), endorsed by Scott (folio 39);
(vi) ‘Note sur Anne le Geierstein’ indicating historical errors (folio 40);
(vii) Notes by Robert Cadell of the references to Brenhilda in ‘Count Robert of Paris’, alluding to her pregnant state (folio 42).
