Scope and Contents

(i) Family correspondence, 1803-1857, being chiefly letters to Charles Hunter, Cadet, of Seaside, in particular from his nephew, Robert Webster of Gavil House, Kilsyth. Other writers include his brother James Hunter of Kellyfield, his sons James and Charles, and his uncle Thomas Hunter of Glencarse. (Folio 1.) (ii) General correspondence, 1799-1873, including a letter of Thomas Hunter of Glencarse to Sir John Sinclair, 1st Baronet of Ulbster, 1810, printed in Sinclair's ‘Material collected for drawing up an account of the Husbandry of Scotland’, 1810, pages 88-100. (Folio 94.) There are also letters of Robert 10th Earl of Kinnoull to James Hunter of Seaside concerning the Perthshire Gentlemen and Yeomanry Regiment of Light Dragoons, 1799-1800 (folio 104), and letters of Thomas Coutts the Banker, probably to Margaret Blair, daughter of Charles Hunter of Seaside, 1803-1809. (Folio 126.)
