Miscellaneous printed documents of the Minto family, chiefly relating to India., 1792-1812.
Scope and Contents
The contents are as follows:
(i) Copy of a private Act of Parliament for vesting the entailed estates of Melgund and Kynynmound in Trustees, 1792 (folio 1);
(ii) A cutting from the ‘Calcutta Gazette Extraordinary’, 13 August 1807, reporting the investiture of Sir George Barlow as a Knight Companion of the Bath (folio 11);
(iii) 'Regulations Proposed by the Court of Directors to the General Court for the most advantageous Management of the Company's Affairs and for the due Administration of Justice in India', undated, but probably 1806-1807 (folio 12);
(iv) 'Second Set of Regulations' etc. (folio 20);
(v) 'A Second Proposal of Regulations to be laid before the General Court for the Better Administration of Justice in Bengal' (folio 28);
(vi) A cutting from the ‘Madras Gazette’, September 1812, containing letters of 'Cassius Severus' to the editor with remarks on a speech by Sir James Mackintosh regarding capital punishment: inscribed to Lord Minto by the author (folio 30).
