Correspondence of the Ashburner family and their relatives., 1789-1872.
Scope and Contents
Included are extracts from letters of George Cadogan Morgan written to his wife while travelling in France in July 1789, and published with some exclusions in ‘A Welsh family from the beginning of the eighteenth century’ by C E William. Morgan was present at the storming of the Bastille, and his letters provide a dramatic eye witness account of the early days of the Revolution (folio 1). Among other writers are Luke and Sarah Ashburner resident in India 1805-1817, and George Ashburner who wrote from Calcutta 1871-1873.
