The notebook contains notes for speeches to be made by Richard B Haldane in the House of Commons, 1881, and whilst campaigning in his constituency, 1888-1892, followed by the text of a speech on ‘Some uses of philosophy’ given to the Edinburgh University Ethical Society, 19 October 1897 (folio 27).
At folio 14 is the draft of a letter to the Electors of East Lothian, 1892.
