Custodial History
The transcript is inscribed inside the front cover 'Cha[s]: Kirkpatrick Sharpe. Feb[y]: 1844.'
In 1889 the transcript was part of a collection of Charles Sharpe's manuscripts in the possession of his nephew and literary executor, W K R Bedford, Rector of Sutton Coldfield: subsequently it appears to have been sold at least twice before belonging to C K N Ballantyne.
Bibliography
Another apparently less accurate copy was used, and extracts printed, in ‘Lives of Simon Lord Lovat, and Duncan Forbes of Culloden’ by John Hill Burton (London, 1847) (see “Major Fraser’s manuscript”, volume i, pages 16-21).
