General, personal, and household accounts of the 3rd Duke of Argyll., 1724-1761, undated.
Scope and Contents
Under each year the accounts are arranged in groups: general (stated accounts with Lord Milton, transfer of money, and in the 1730's receipts for pensions by Scottish peers), personal, household and furnishing (relating to all the Duke's Scottish residences), travel and freight (mostly between Edinburgh, Rosneath, and Inveraray; including in the early 1750's those relating to the Duke's yacht Princess Augusta), and tradesmen (mostly working at the Duke's lodging in Holyrood; those elsewhere are included in the special sections below). Substantial runs of numbered vouchers in 1741 and 1744 have been left intact; and vouchers have also been left on occasion with the accounts to which they refer.
