Patrick Chalmers (died1854) married Jessie Anna Letitia Vernon, neé Foley, widow of Captain T T Vernon, by whom she had two sons, Bowater Vernon and Howard Galton of Hazor. (Patrick Chalmers was on a continental tour with his stepsons when he died). Most of the letters are from G C Vernon, brother- in-law of Mrs Chalmers (folio 38). The volume also includes general correspondence concerning Hanbury Hall (folio 158).
