The railway companies include: the Llanelly Railway and Dock Co., 1839-1856 (folio 1); the Scottish North Eastern Railway Company, 1861-1865 (folio 17); the Dundee and Arbroath Railway Company, 1836-1845 (folio 21); Forfar and Dundee Railways, 1843 (folio 32); The Great Northern Railway, 1854-1864 (folio 34); the Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee Railway Company, 1852 (folio 38); the Montrose and Brechin Railway, 1837 (folio 40); the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway Company, 1843 (folio 44); the Dundee & Perth & Aberdeen Railway Junction Company, 1854 (folio 45).
The volume also contains the following pamphlets: 'Suggestions as to the best mode of auditing railway accounts', and 'Proposals for increasing the efficiency of the railway clearing house', both by William Pennington; and R R Notman, ‘The Deeside railway: a letter to the landed proprietors of Deeside’.
