NOTE S&C The contents are as follows: (i) Letter, 23 October 1813, of Philip Hunt to his sister, enclosing a recipe for a cure, known as ‘The Chelsea pensioner’, for gout and rheumatism and also enquiring after ‘Miss Kinchant’ (folio 1); (ii) Letters of Francis Kinchant (folio 4); (iii) Copy of a letter, 1817, describing the death of Kinchant at Waterloo (folio 14); (iv) Correspondence and notes, 1894, 1910, 1917, of Vivian McLaughlin and Major-General J C Kinchant concerning Francis Kinchant and his family (folio 16); (v) Press cutting, 1938, concerning the reinternment in Edinburgh of Charles Ewart, sergeant in the 2nd Dragoons.
