Scope and Contents
The papers consist of:
(i) Letters, 1912-1924, of Board of Education officials during the period John Dover Wilson was employed as HM Inspector of Adult Education for English, History and Economics in technical schools;
(ii) Letters, 1929-1933, concerning the proposed publication of the series 'Landmarks in the history of education', referring in particular to ‘Culture and anarchy’ by Matthew Arnold, edited by Dover Wilson for the series which was eventually published by Cambridge University Press;
(iii) Memoranda, 1913-1915, concerning the Board of Education and the Workers' Educational Association;
(iv) Typescript, undated, on Matthew Arnold by Mrs Humphry Ward.
