Correspondence of Patrick Geddes with John S Glennie and Dr Gilbert Slater., 1891-1931.
Scope and Contents
The letters from John Glennie deal with his proposed publications with the firm of Patrick Geddes and Colleagues, and include a typescript of his apparently unpublished essay, 'A plea for the endowment of history as a science', 1901 (folio 18). Also included is some correspondence on Glennie's executor contract, 1910. Gilbert Slater's letters chiefly concern sociology and education, and also discuss a series of lectures on war and its sociological problems, organised jointly by Slater and Geddes in 1915.
