Folio 1 : picture postcard of the tombstone of David Livingstone in Westminster Abbey;
folio 2-3 : prospectus issued by John Murray, publishers, advertising works by or concerning Livingstone;
folio 4 : cutting from "The [?Standard]", no. 326 : “Last letter of Dr. Livingstone”;
folio 5 : cutting, supplied through Durrant’s Press Cuttings, from ‘The Standard’, 21st October 1912 : "A Livingstone relic. An
inkless letter. Written on a copy of ‘The Standard’”;
folio 6 : letter, 23 October 1912, of the Editor of the ‘The Standard’ newspaper to John Murray IV concerning the article “A
Livingstone relic.” (folio 5, above);
folio 7 : leaf from an auction, or bookseller’s, catalogue showing a colour image of the ‘inkless letter’ mentioned in the newspaper
article of folio 5, above;
folios 8-10 : 1963. Correspondence between George Shepperson and John Murray V concerning the Livingstone papers held by Murray;

folio 14 : photocopy, 4th quarter 20th century, of an article from the ‘Scotsman’, 9 September 1949, concerning the portrait of
Livingstone by Henry Phillips.
The following were with the Livingstone papers :
folios 15-18 : plates from "Explorations in South-West Africa" by Thomas Baines .
Baines was, until he was dismissed, the storekeeper and artist for Livingstone’s expedition to the Zambesi. He went on to
undertake his own explorations in South Africa.
