Letters, 1870-1875 and uncertain dates, of Philip Stanhope to John Murray III, with related letters and papers. They concern works of his published by Murray, including “History of England comprising the reign of Queen Anne until the peace of Utrecht” and a second series of “Miscellanies”, with news of translations of some of his works. He describes his holiday travels, and there is also discussion of politics, and of his reading. The letters are arranged in chronological order.
