Scope and Contents
Letters, 1880-1883, of Heinrich Schliemann to John Murray III and John Murray IV, with some letters to Robert Cooke, and with related letters and papers. The letters concern mostly the publication of “Ilios” and “Troja”. Some of the letters reveal the controversy surrounding Schliemann’s work and his efforts to respond to criticisms, and include a little detail on his continuing excavations. The letters are arranged chronologically:
