Scope and Contents
Letters, 1834-1849, and uncertain dates, of John Penrose to John Murray II and John Murray III. They concern a new work by “Mrs Markham” [Elizabeth Penrose], covering Malta and Poland, a new edition of her sermons for children, and work by John Penrose on new editions of her histories of England and France. There is mention also of his proposal to write a memoir of his uncles, “Lives of Vice-Admiral Sir Charles Vinicombe Penrose, and Capt. James Trevenen”. The letters are arranged in chronological order.
