[Note 2.] Folios 36-37. Letter, 2 December 1889, of E. Combe to John Murray IV concerning a French edition of “The English Poor”. The letter was returned by Thomas Mackay to Murray as an enclosure to his letter, 5 December 1889 (folios 34-35).
[Note 3.] Folios 40-41. Letter, 13 May 1891, of Thomas Mackay to John Murray IV enclosing (folios 42-43) a letter, 30 April 1891, of G.A. Smith to Mackay in which Smith suggests that a cheap edition of “A plea for liberty” should be produced.
