The letters are to John Murray II and John Murray III. They mainly concern the publication of works by Howard Douglas on military affairs. Among the titles discussed are the “Treatise on naval gunnery” (1820, and subsequent editions) and, “On naval warfare with steam” (1858 and 1860).
