Scope and Contents
This manuscript includes letters, 1903-1927 and uncertain dates, of Algernon Cecil to John Murray IV. They concern works of his published by Murray, including “Six Oxford thinkers” and “A life of Robert Cecil, first Earl of Salisbury”. There is discussion of Cecil’s and Murray’s theological differences concerning the Catholic church, and their views on the Great War. Many of these letters include replies. The letters are arranged alphabetically by correspondent and by date under each name.
