Scope and Contents
The contents of the notebook are as follows:
(i) a copy made by Hutton in 1790 of the part of Giovanni Ferreri`s history of Kinloss Abbey printed in ‘Veterum Scriptorum ... amplissima collectio’, tomus 6, columns 319-327, which Bishop John Geddes had made in 1770 from the copy in the Royal Library, Madrid (folio 2);
(ii) extracts from Adamnan`s Life of Saint Columba, taken possibly from ‘Vitæ Antiquæ Sanctorum qui habitaverunt in ... Scotia ...’ (folio 15);
(iii) extracts from the observations on the wardrobe account of 28 Edw I (folio 34);
(iv) notes on persons and places named Hutton, and on other places (folio 42).
