Scope and Contents

The contents of the volume are as follows:

(i) Inventory of writs, `Anent ye baronie of Tyllebulalb and redemptione thairof be James Strathay of Carmyle and lairdes of Skene`, 16th century (folio 1).

(ii) 4 letters of James Lindsay, 5th Earl of Balcarres, to his sister, Lady Elizabeth Lindsay, 1743, and undated (folio 4).

(iii) `Scroll of a Speech on an Overture transmitted by the [General] Assembly [of the Church of Scotland to the Presbyteries] anent Members of inferior Courts being allowed to judge in the Superior Courts in Cases appealed from them`, 1773; and a similar scroll, 1776, concerning another Overture, `That all Judicatorys should be prohibited from doing anything contrary to the Constitution and Law of the Church` (folio 10).

(iv) Papers, legal and genealogical, concerning the succession to the estate of Innes of Stow, 1855 (folio 19).

(v) Paper, 1844, concerning the claim of Sir Augustus Frederick D`Este to the title of his father, Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex (folio 41).
