This volume includes economic material on subjects similar to those found in the correspondence, i.e. the use of steam-packets, from 1816-1830, on the London to Portsmouth canal (folios 3-30), unemployment in 1842 amongst the Dunfermline weavers (folios 159-172), and Scottish railway development during 1845 (folios 173-196).
