The letter-book, which is in Lachlan Mackintosh's own hand, relates to the years 1824-1826. He had returned to Scotland in 1808 and taken up residence in Raigmore House, Inverness-shire. The letters in this volume reflect his life as a land-owner and his interests in local affairs, elections, law-suits, etc.
