Scope and Contents
This series contains 13 folders of annotated press cuttings and notes compiled and retained by John Hinde as he worked to provide rescue/incident statistics to the Scottish Mountaineering Club (SMC) on behalf of the Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland. These aided the compilation of annual statistics and functioned as an ongoing information resource. Many of the press cuttings are supplemented by additional contextual details obtained by Hinde. A number of volumes also contain additional reporting materials and correspondence.

Biographical / Historical
John Hinde represented the Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland (MRCS) in supplying the rescue statistics to the Scottish Mountaineering Club (SMC) for publication in its annual journal. He carried out this statistical work between 1981-2001, as evidenced in the club’s journals covering these years. He was a member of both organisations, having joined the SMC in 1963.
