Scope and Contents

Collection contains papers of, and concerning, the Clydeside Apprentices' strikes of the 1930s. These include an original mounted photograph labelled 'Engineering and Shipbuilding Apprentices' Strike', showing young workers (1937); an original pamphlet entitled 'Clydeside Apprentices' Strike: Full Story', published by the Young Communist League in c.1937; an original typescript 'Report of Proceedings' of an inquiry held into wage disputes raised by the Clydeside Apprentices in 1941; reproduced press cuttings on the 1937 strike alongside photocopied secondary source articles on the historical assessment of the strikes; and original and reproduced instalments of 'The Apprentice Mag', 'The Clyde Apprentice Strikers' Bulletin', and 'The Apprentice' (1939-1941).
