Scope and Contents
In 1836 Allen Thomson was appointed physician to the Duke of Bedford, and his letters describe life at Woburn, with comments on contemporary politics, and a visit to France in 1838. There is also a series of letters from Sir William Aitken, the pathologist, describing his life in Scutari in 1855 (folio 123).
