Original sketches and illustrations by Edith Simon, 1923-1933, undated
Scope and Contents
Mediums include paint, crayon, ink, pencil, and chalk; and works embrace both childhood and mature works. A series of nine mounted illustrations are accompanied by typescript excerpts, possibly related to a book project on the 'potted history of England', while two other works on paper relate to a proposed book project on China. A typescript was also found with the mounted images, relating to the same British history project and have been housed seperately in Box 2 (15). File also includes a youthful self-portrait of Edith, drawn by herself, and a fragile typescript story featuring pencil and chalk sketches by Edith on the reverse showing life drawing studies. [Story may relate to, or be written by, Eliot Janeway, who is noted as having become an Economics and Presidential advisor in America.]
