(i) An early draft of volume III, chapter 7, part ii, 'Writing for literary purposes', of ‘Critical history of the language and literature of Ancient Greece’ by William Mure (folio 1);
(ii) 'Essay on the Greek tragedy', endorsed in pencil, Edinburgh 1816 (folio 40);
(iii) Notes, imperfect at the beginning, on the Etruscans (folio 58);
(iv) 'On the present state and prospects of Egyptian archaeology', circa 1832 (folio 76);
(v) 'Some occasional observations in the reading of Tacitus' (folio 97);
(vi) Notes of the contents of Cicero, 'De divinatione' and 'De natura deorum', Augustine, 'De civitate Dei', and Cicero, 'Tusculanae disputations' (folio 101; folio 112 should stand after folio 120);
(vii) Notes on Virgil, 'Aeneid', endorsed 1835 (folio 121), and on Homer (folio 135);
