Biography
Tom Campbell obtained a scholarship to attend the Central Labour College London in 1927, in an open competition offered by the British Trades Union Council. He was expelled at the end of 1928 as a result of his participation in a student-led strike. The Central Labour College was founded as an institution of higher education on the basis of independent working class education in 1909, and remained active until its closure in 1929 owing to funding shortfalls.
